The Department of Aviation completed a new master plan for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in early 2015. This plan defined the Airport’s short- and long-term development needs to provide the best possible customer service while maintaining ATL’s role as an economic driver for the region and a gateway to the world. To that end, the master plan process assessed expected growth in activity in the region and at the Airport, determined existing facilities’ ability to meet future demand, and identified potential development solutions. The master plan study ultimately offered a roadmap for Hartsfield-Jackson’s development through 2031. ATLNext was created to implement key elements of the master plan over the next 20 years.
